Tv Presenting

Cat Lewis, Auditions Exec attends a discounted TV Presenting Workshop with iD Experiential's Brand Ambassadors.

Last month a handful of some of our best Brand Ambassadors grabbed an incredible opportunity to brush up on their presenting skills with the TV Training Academy at iD HQ.

Word on the street quickly spread that the TV Training Academy were offering these discounted workshops, so I thought I’d dip myself in to see what all the fuss was about. Tony Hindhaugh and Brian Naylor head up a 1 day and a 5 day workshop every few weeks at iD HQ.

I had no idea what to expect but with 7 of us booked on that day, there was a warm energy and a sense of ease from the start. The workshop was not daunting at all - but interactive and personal, with each of us showcasing our different skills, personalities and abilities. This created a nice atmosphere for us to help each other out, swap tips, and understand our individual uniqueness.

During the first part of the day we learnt some highly insightful secrets behind the camera including the psychology of how your mind works then rubs off on your audience! The TV Training Academy taught us everything from how to stand, what to say and the way to say it as well as how to entice your audience through body language and your eyes! The basic idea was to come across very natural on camera – and not too desperate!

The afternoon was literally “lights, camera, action!” I really had to surrender to the camera eventually breaking those initial barriers to present “as if having a coffee with your mate” but with super-duper enthusiasm!! In the final part of the day we picked a subject to speak about and present, so to top it all off we get a nice edited show reel!

Not only was this a jolly good day, but also relevant for everyday life when speaking to the general public, friends and colleagues.

I noticed the parallels between the workshop and our industry – you really need to understand your audience and who you are talking to you in order to get the response you want. Your energy will always rub off on an audience, which will reflect their mood too!

The workshops get booked up fast so if you’re intrigued - take a chance! If you have already been on this 1 day workshop, why not try the 5 day course which I have no doubt would be phenomenal.

The 5 day course is the one which will land you secure work! It cover the mental approach to presenting, down the line, auto cue, talk back, interviewing, script writing, green screen and vox pops, career advice and job leads. This will be taking place at Pinewood Studios, the package is normally £745; however our iDols get it for £499 including a show reel.
